Amy + Kevin's engagement session - sneak peek

All I can say is: FUN.  These two love each other, and love having fun with each other.  And that makes an engagement shoot more fun than anything else!

Amy and I both said "Oooooh!" when we saw this grass.  So we spent quite a while there. :)

Look at the happy eyes here...these two are going to have an awesome marriage.

More to come later, but this week is the Christmas deadline for wedding albums...which has resulted in many hours of delightful designing at the expense of sleep...but the books are going to be stunning and make a whole lot of people VERY happy, so I'm OK with that.  :)  Later!

Tyler - senior portraits

We did Tyler's senior portrait session on Thanksgiving weekend, so I've been wanting to post these images for quite a while!  Tyler is awesome.  He's tough on the outside -- he takes his football and baseball seriously, and he's good -- but underneath he's a sincere, kind guy, and what can I say, I admire this kid.  Here are a few favorites from his session...

Till next time, friends!

The Cox family

A few weeks ago I met this awesome family in Livermore for a double session—senior portraits for Tyler, and then family portraits!  We spent some time downtown, then headed out to Sycamore Grove park.

It was such a treat to photograph Lisa, Larry, and their three sons.  They are so genuine, down-to-earth, and pleasant to be with.  Not to mention that they're all natural posers—they're so comfortable in front of the lens, they could be a family of models.  Seriously!

Trey (I think he'll be modeling for Ralph Lauren soon...)

Tyler (senior portraits coming later!)

Trent has a fantastic camera smile.  Love it.

Lisa and Larry are such a great couple...wish I'd been around to photograph their wedding!  :)

And then the sun set...so we photographed that too. :)  Thanks for the great session, Cox family!

I'm still catching up on photo editing, but I'll post some of Tyler's senior photos when they're ready.  Have a great Friday, everyone!

Austin and Jenna

When the bride lives a couple hours southeast of you, and the groom lives a couple hours southwest of you, the logical thing to do for an engagement session is to meet halfway, right?  So we had Austin and Jenna's session in Livermore.  I spent some time scouting out locations, since I've only shot there a couple times, and I think you'll agree we found some lovely spots!

Austin and Jenna are so much fun.  I love watching them together.  They're best friends who have a lot of respect for each other.  And as you can see, they're very in love.... :)

I love late-season grass in California...sunset light makes it simply magical...

And lastly, one of my new favorite engagement session photos...so romantic...

Can't wait to photograph Austin and Jenna's wedding in January! :)

Thanks to Amanda for coming along for this session...she's an awesome assistant!

I'm working on Byron and Rebecca's photos, and will post more of those soon...but first I think there needs to be a post about a certain crazy Tough Mudder event that took place last Saturday.  ;) Later....

Austin and Jenna - engagement session

Last Saturday Austin and Jenna and I got together in Livermore and had a simply grand engagement session...complete with a lovely orange sun which I got to photograph just as it was setting behind the couple.  Fun people, outdoor beauty + camera = good times!

Here's a preview of the photos...I have to finish another editing job first but will post more later!

I love doing family portraits!

Yes, I really do!  I'm too busy with weddings to do a whole lot of portraits...but I love doing them!  This family and I had a grand time last Saturday in Livermore, wandering around a park and finding good light.  Oh, and very cool sycamore tree trunks.  Yes.  We found several of those...

Logan and Skyler.  These kids were so much fun.  We were great friends by the time we finished the photos!

Logan is a tremendously strong individual.  He can hold up entire trees, as you see.

Mommy and daughter have such beautiful hair!

I love the abandon of a child having a good time.

Beautiful.  I'm sure you'll all agree.  :)

Working on editing the whole set...they'll be up on my online proofing site soon.  I have to say, editing on one of the fastest laptops in the world (well, ok, pretty close!) is a delight.  This new computer was WAY overdue, and it's such a contrast! The old Dell served me well for a long time, but 4GB of RAM just wasn't near enough any more.  With 8GB now and a super-fast i7 processor and a fast graphics card and a nice big 7200rpm hard drive that I put in when I got it -- well, this computer is just making my life soo wonderful.  :)

Ahh...ok, enough obsessing...back to the editing.  ;)  God bless you all, my dear readers!
